It is true what they say; luxury really is in the details. That is why Rosewood Mayakoba swept me off my feet.
World-class welcome
Located only a short distance from the popular towns of Playa del Carmen and Tulum in Riviera Maya, the Mayakoba complex encompasses four luxury hotels, namely the grand Rosewood Mayakoba, The Fairmont, Banyan Tree, and Andaz. My clear favorite is the Rosewood, although you can’t go wrong with any of the other options either.
As soon as you step in Rosewood Mayakoba, you will be cordially greeted by its gorgeous open lobby with stars hanging from the ornate ceiling. A welcome cocktail will also be offered and if you have had a long flight, a margarita will not be a bad idea.
Extravagant suites
Rosewood Maya is built on a lagoon that connects its four grand hotels. When you arrive here, you will be escorted to your room by a beautiful riverboat via the lagoon. Who would not enjoy a little float along in the glorious sunshine? The rooms themselves look as if they are drifting in amongst the mangroves and indigenous wildlife. Truly a sight to behold!
Although it is less than likely, should you ever run dry there is also tequila in every room. Every suite also has a dedicated butler who is always on hand to assist you with your every need and demand – whether you have to pack and unpack or book restaurants or need suggestions for historic places to see nearby. The service here is very impressive – making Rosewood Mayakoba one of the best vacation spots in Mexico.

I almost forgot the bathroom! It is the best bathroom you will ever lay eyes on. There are big floor to ceiling windows, meaning that it is also drowned in natural illumination which makes it feel even more spacious. You can actually move outside through the shower into another great outside shower bordered with palm foliage! It is that grand.
But that is not all. Head up the private stairs and there is a spectacular sundeck waiting for you… perfect for catching that first ray of the sun in the morning.
Beautiful and pristine beach
Getting around the resort and to the beach is easy. There is the lagoon, yes, but you can also take a hike along the magnificent avenue edged with palm foliage. Rosewood Mayakoba’s private beach is gorgeous white sands in every direction as far as you can see. And although you will be in the company of others basking in the sun, the beach is not at all crowded and you will not be lacking for a sun lounger.
Perching just atop the beach is Rosewood Mayakoba's infinity pool. There are plenty of lovely cabanas for shade and there is even a mini spa station for massages! The resort’s Punta Bonita restaurant is located here, and it is the perfect place if you want to enjoy traditional Mexican cuisine and cocktails on the beach or just a few casual snacks at the bar.
And don't forget to play golf! Rosewood Mayakoba has a world-class golf course right in the Mayakoba complex. El Camaleón Golf Club hosts the the Mayakoba Golf Classic each year. Just have the concierge book you a tee time and someone will be waiting with a golf cart to take you to play. And don't worry: they have great rental sets and shoes so that you don't have to lug your sticks all the way to Mexico.

I am in awe with what the grand resort of Rosewood Mayakoba has to offer. If you travel to Mexico, particularly Riviera Maya, consider staying at Rosewood Mayakoba. This charming place will blow your mind away.
